Dr. Gaboury, Founder of Cogmium, LLC, earned his Ph.D. and B.S. degrees in Coating and Polymer Chemistry from North Dakota State University. He has spent over 25 years in the development and commercialization of polymeric materials, including fluoropolymers such as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), for a range of applications including coatings, fuel cells, solar modules, lithium ion batteries, membranes, fibers, and industrial piping, to name a few. Dr. Gaboury is an inventor on over 45 granted patents, an author on numerous technical publications and has presented at various international forums. In addition, he co-authored winning Department of Energy and National Science Foundation grant proposals for programs totaling over $15 million in funding.

 

As a result of managing numerous commercially successful research programs, Dr. Gaboury has gained expertise in the methodologies and tools needed for successful technology scouting and to maximize financial returns on R&D investments. This covers a range of aspects including utilization of stage and gate project management, portfolio management, organizing an effective business development team, intellectual property strategy and management, and quantifying R&D investment returns.
